Naive??

Politics

I'm beginning to think that perhaps I am the most naive person in the world. Here I am a 28 year old woman, married, mother of 2. Live in suburban America and last night the W. Virginia primaries shocked me. How is it in 2008 that people are still so racist?? I grew up thinking that racial discrimination in most of the country was gone but now I'm beginning to wonder. Watching the exit polls from last night, 75% of the people asked why they voted for Clinton said because they didn't want a black president. How is that possible in this day and age?? I'm honestly not sure what I'm more mad about. That he lost by a huge margin, that he hardly campaigned there or that I'm beginning to realize that this country hasn't lost it's Black/White hatred much at all. Now some of you may not like what Obama stands for or whatever but can any of you say that you wouldn't vote for him because of his color?? I hope not. But for people to openly say that's why they didn't vote they should be ashamed of themselves!! I guess I was raised in a good family who taught me to love people no matter what race they are and I can only hope that I raise my kids the same way. Hopefully when they grow up or when they have kids the world will be a much kinder place. Thanks for reading my rant.

Why hate someone just because of color when there are so many other valid reasons to hate them?! :) I could never support Obama or Hillary (or McCain for that matter!), but it has nothing to do with him being black, her being a woman, or him being prehistoric.

See I can understand not voting for someone for political reason but deciding based on race bothers the heck out of me.
