Naive??

I'm beginning to think that perhaps I am the most naive person in the world. Here I am a 28 year old woman, married, mother of 2. Live in suburban America and last night the W. Virginia primaries shocked me. How is it in 2008 that people are still so racist?? I grew up thinking that racial discrimination in most of the country was gone but now I'm beginning to wonder. Watching the exit polls from last night, 75% of the people asked why they voted for Clinton said because they didn't want a black president. How is that possible in this day and age?? I'm honestly not sure what I'm more mad about. That he lost by a huge margin, that he hardly campaigned there or that I'm beginning to realize that this country hasn't lost it's Black/White hatred much at all. Now some of you may not like what Obama stands for or whatever but can any of you say that you wouldn't vote for him because of his color?? I hope not. But for people to openly say that's why they didn't vote they should be ashamed of themselves!! I guess I was raised in a good family who taught me to love people no matter what race they are and I can only hope that I raise my kids the same way. Hopefully when they grow up or when they have kids the world will be a much kinder place. Thanks for reading my rant.

Update on the Family

I thought it was time to update my page a little. Ryan and I just celebrated our 6th anniversary and I finally added pictures of us on our page! We are still going strong and I love him more every day.

Kaylie girl is doing great! We enrolled her in Pre-K and she will start on Monday. She is so excited which makes me happy. In a way I'm so happy that she's going to school but another part of me is sad that I have a child old enough to go to school :( I'm sure once I see how happy she is then I'll get over it.

Reese just turned 2 on August 5th! That's very hard to believe. At least this year she was able to have a party unlike last year where she was in the hospital. We had a few scares this year with her health but she seems to be doing well and just hope that continues. She surprised us last week when she started going on the potty chair. It was so surprising since she has shown no signs of wanting to go so I haven't been pushing it. Kaylie was almost 3 when she started going so I was quite shocked. She's not even close to being 100% yet but she's trying and that's all I ask :)

My photography thing is going well. I've had several sessions and am actually going to be doing a wedding over Labor Day. With every session I'm getting better and I'm proud of what I've done so far. Just Thinking

I'm watching the news coverage of the VT shooting and it got me thinking. It's the ago old question...who do we blame? The person shooting, the gun companies. the parents? It's all so scary this world that we live in. I was raised in a small town in Kansas where we could go places and our parents wouldn't worry about us. No one that I knew of had a gun in their house. I only found out last night from Ryan that a few of his friends, even his dad, had guns in their house. As a parent myself I look at my little girls and worry so much about their lives as they get older. When they are old enough to have sleepovers and such do we ask if there are guns in the house...is that a reasonable thing to ask? How far can we go to make sure our kids are safe? Or do we have faith in the way that we've raised them and let them live their life without getting too involved? Guess we will cross that road when we come to it.

Just my 2 cents though...I think we need to ban guns all together in homes. Any idiot can go out and buy a gun...I don't care how many laws out there that say they have to wait 2 weeks for a background check. I know hunters need them to hunt, police need them to protect, and some normal people feel they need them in their homes for protection etc etc. But where do we draw the line? Kids are smarter than heck these days. Even if parents haven't shown kids how to use a gun but it's in their house...a kid can figure it out. And children love to explore. Locked away guns aren't really that safe either since older kids can probably find the keys. I honestly don't know if doing away with civilians having guns will help but at least it's something. I know...the "Right to Bare Arms" is there in the constitution but I also think as some point we need to draw the line.

I'm just thankful thinking back to our Sunday at the park. I was watching Kaylie swinging and Ryan helping Reese up and down the slide and just thinking how life couldn't get much better. I wish we could keep the kids young forever and never let them know how dangerous the world really is.

Our Interesting Morning

Thought I would share what our little Reeses Pieces did this morning. I was in her room cleaning out clothes and such and the phone rings. Well, I don't answer the phone usually unless I know who it is. Even though I said our city on the Caller ID, I figured they were just trying to sell me something. About 5 minutes later there's a knock at the door. I usually don't answer that either but since Kaylie had already looked out the side windows they knew someone was home. I open the door and a police officer was there. He asked if everything was okay in the house. I was like "yeah everything is fine" He then asked if he could come in and check out the house. He came in and asked if it was just me and the girls here and I said yes. I was concerned at first but then he asked if someone has dialed 911. I was like "oh no!!" I had seen the phone on the ground earlier but it was turned off but Reese has been known to play with it. He asked Kaylie if she had and she said no. She doesn't know how to lie so if she said she didn't then she didn't. He then looked over at Reese and asked her :) He proceeded to look at my tornado of a house, which was embarrassing enough, to make sure no one else was there. Anyway...to make a long story short. He made sure everything was okay, asked me a few questions and went on his way. I still cannot believe that Reese had dialed that. Out of all the numbers on the phone she had to push those!! Needless to say...the phone is where she can't get to it now :)

When you have a married couple whom you are very very close to and they start having marital problems? You want them both to be happy but if that's not possible together what do you do? Do you push them to stay together for the sake of the kids or do you give hints to get them to find ways to be apart. One of them is emotionally out of the marriage and is having an emotional affair with a good friends of hers. Her and her husband have been together since the 7th grade and have never been apart. They have 3 kids but she now says she's in love with this other guys that she's known just as long. For now I've just been listening and have not been giving advice but she asked for some and I had no idea what to say. I'm so close to both and I don't want them to be apart but if they aren't happy together then they shouldn't be. I'm so confused!

Screeching!!!

For some reason Reese, who’s 1, has begun screeching for no apparent reason. We drove to Kansas for Christmas and she was great on the way up. On the way back to Texas, however, she started this whole thing. I’d like to call it whining but it’s not, it’s more like a very high pitched whine and turns into a screech if you don’t give her something right away. Imagine spending 6 hours in a car with that! The only time she wasn’t doing this is when she took a two hour nap. Now that we are home she has kept it up. I try not to give into it right away and see if she stops but I really can’t take too much of it. I have absolutely no idea what’s going on. She now has 2 molars in and I’m assuming she might be getting more in but she wasn’t like this with the other 2. It might be her age and not being able to talk so she has found this to be an effective method in getting what she wants. She also got a cold over the holidays and this could be her way of acting out when she’s not feeling good. I get so frustrated and try so hard to keep it in check. It’s also very difficult to get mad at someone who looks like this.

I can only hope that this will stop very soon so I can keep my sanity!

My first blog

I’m 26 years old and this is my first blog. My husband, who knows more about the internet and computers than anyone I know, has set this up for me. I’m honestly not sure what these things are for but what the heck…I’ll give it a shot. He tells me it’s for me to post my thoughts about my life and other subjects. I’m not too sure what I would have to say that other people would find interesting but you never know I guess. To give you a brief insight into my life my name is Michelle. I’ve been married going on 6 years and have two absolutely beautiful girls. Kaylie is now a very grown up 4 year old and Reese is already 1. It’s crazy how fast they grow up. I’m a stay at home mom which I love and I can’t imagine doing anything else. In the very little free time that I have, I enjoy photography. Recently it has become an amateur career of sorts. I’m hoping that in the years to come it becomes a full grown career. I love taking pictures especially of children and families. Over the holidays I had several photo shoots and many of them said they will come back. So that’s really how these things get started I hear. People keep coming back to you and then they tell their friends and so on and so on. I truly hope this turns into an amazing future for me but if not…I will always enjoy taking photos. That’s about it for me. Thanks for reading :)
